Sweet Soul Revue by Pizzicato Five
Pizzicato Five is a Japanese pop group based in Tokyo and gained international fame in 1993 when they released their hit single “Sweet Soul Revue”. The song was first featured in an advertising campaign for Kanebo Cosmetics and this is one of the first Japanese songs that are being in played in radio stations outside of Japan. For something like this in 90s, getting your song to be played in foreign radio stations is such a big deal!
Feel like Dance by Globe
Feel like Dance is a 1995 single performed by the Japanese band Globe and had hit number 3 in the Oricon charts for a total of twenty-four weeks. The song is actually a title track to the Fuji TV Japanese drama series Hitori ni Shinaide. This song single alone sold over a total of 893,490 copies internationally. Tetsuya Komuro did the music, lyrics, and arrangement of this smash hit.
Positive – Miho Morikawa
Miho Morikawa is Japanese singer and model that rose to fame in the Japanese music industry due to her songs being featured in some anime series like Ranma ½, Dirty Pair OAV, and Kenichi: The Mightiest Disciple to name a few. Postive is included in this list due to the fact that it reminds of you of “City Pop” or gives you some feel good vibes which are quite ideal for any relaxing day. This song was one of the ending theme songs for the anime adaptation of Ranma ½ you may also check out the video of anime ending theme below.
Love is Changing by Hikaru Nishida
The song Love is Changing is sung by Japanese actress and pop singer Hikaru Nishida. She made her first debut as a singing artist with her album “Fifteen” released in April 1988. Love is Changing is one of the ending theme songs of the anime Flame of Recca. The song is notable for city pop-ish feel which is also evident in the anime’s ending theme sequence which you can check out below.
