CoroCoro Comic 40th Anniversary Cafe Collaboration

Treat yourself with anime/manga themed food and enjoy the art of the Shogakkan’s Monthly Korokoro Comic as May 13th marks the 40th anniversary of the the magazine’s release and in celebration of this a collaboration was made between Tokyo Sky Tree Town and the magazine held at the “Korokoro comic legend (legend) cafe.”

For those who may not know, “Korokoro Comic” alternatively spelled as “CoroCoro Comic” is Japanese monthly magazine that is aimed towards a young male (mainly elementary school aged) audience and was first established on May 15, 1977. It is highly recognized for publishing many popular shounen works including the iconic sci-fi series “Doraemon” and the classic “Beyblade.”

A thing to note about this work is that many of the works found in this magazine is of a gaming origin. For example, there is the long running and continuously popular “Pokemon” and there is also the vintage game turned manga “Donkey Kong.”

This May 12th a coverage was held at the cafe as editor-in-chief Wada Makoto Edo along with artists Mamoru Shimura , Shogo Kuromoto , Kazumoto Soyama and Hiro Mori made their appearance to make their participation in the collaboration.

One of the main features to look forward to in the collaboration is that the editor-in-chief himself created his own original menu for the cafe inspired by the works of the magazine. When questioned on how he felt about the menu, Mr. Namura, the one in charge of the cafe expressed amusement over the names, especially with some of the dishes being name something like “No meat? Vine Seco tofu hamburger curry”

Another feature to look forward to with the collaboration is the illustrated images that each of the artist whom participated created on an illustration wall within the cafe. In addition to this there will be exhibition zones where all 468 works of the magazine can be seen.

For fans who wish to commemorate the event, they can enjoy the different photo spots set up or mark their calendars for May 20 and 21 as a stamp rally along with autograph sessions by “Beyblade Burst’s” creator Takao Aoki will be held.
