We know how massive of a franchise Love Live! Sunshine is now. The fanbase grows in huge numbers that a vast majority would do anything just to buy their merchandise and watch them perform live on stage. Behind this merriment, there are actually bad sides to the fandom that not even a lot would notice.
In a tweet that was posted on April 30, a Japanese Twitter user named @CleRin_Milky posted a tweet regarding their dismay over a lot of “Sunshiners” or Love Live! Sunshine fans who show very improper etiquette during and after the event called “Bushiroibu”. The tweet is in Japanese but the translated contents are found below.
First, it was pointed out that the people who were there only attended the event for the sake of Aquors, the name of the Love Live! Sunshine idol group. They seems to have forgotten that the said event (translated as “Bushira” in the Tweet) is only just about Aquors alone but also other idol groups and seiyuus.
Another one is that the visitors played on their smartphone after Aquors which is kind of rude especially to those groups and individuals who were there to perform but not related to the popular franchise. A lot of them even left the venue already for Aquors have already finished performing. The show is not over yet these people didn’t have the respect to finish the entire show.
The tweet also mentioned that there were distribution fliers being thrown all over the event venue—most of these fliers contain images of not-so-popular seiyuus and starting performers. These visitors have completely forgotten that these are promotional materials and they shouldn’t just throw them away anywhere just because they are only interested in Aquors. Souvenir towels and garbage are also been thrown around the venue.
Respect for Performers in the Industry
Japan has been a mecca for anime, manga, and idol groups. Let’s not forget these now popular idol groups started from the bottom where they were not really much noticed by a lot of people yet. If ever another similar event happens in the future, we hope that won’t be repeat of Bushira. Cheer for your favorite group and also be open-minded and respect those groups and performers who have just started out.
Always remember that the bad actions of a couple of people under a certain fandom like Love Live! would also effect the whole image of its entire fanbase. If you really are a true fan, don’t forget to keep calm and respect an event and one another while we continue to love the group or franchise.
