New Short Anime "Jinryoku Senkan!? Shiokaze Sawakaze" Personifies Robots and Promotes Coastal City

You’ve seen personification of animals, of countries and even of zodiac characters, this time, see the personification of Imperial Army Navy Destroyers in the new anime short titled, ""Jinryoku Senkan!? Shiokaze Sawakaze." Officially debuting on March 20 in an event held in Iwaki, Fukushima Prefecture, the series takes on a theme of extradimensional beings invading the earth and two people being able to transform into fighting robots.

To be specific, this is a story set in the Onahama district in Iwaki, a coastal region of the Fukushima Region. It is here at the Ohana Port that the personifications of Shiokaze and Sawakaze, two former Imperial Japanese Navy destroyers that were scuttled after World War II to serve as part of the breakwater.

In this world, due to an earthquake that occurred in 2011, a disruption in spacetime was made and in result a wormhole was formed and extradimensional began spewing out. Standing against them is an aspiring cyclist named Shinpei Hoshi and the personified fighting robots.

The director for this short is key animator and animation director, Toru Yoshida. Acting as chief director of the short is Yoshinori Asao, producer of the “Magical Wars” series. Haruka Hirosawa, a key animator for the “Masamune-kun’s Revenge” series, is the character designer of the short.

The main cast of this short consist of Seiichirou Yamashita, the voice behind Kakeru Naruse in “Orange” and Yagen Toushirou in “Touken Ranbun: Hanamura”, as Shinpei Hoshi. Playing as the red Navy Destroyer Sawakaze is Sumire Uesaka, the voice of Anastasia in “(The) IDOLM@STER Cinderella Girls” and Momoko Oginome in “CROSS ANGE Rondo of Angel and Dragon.”

For the blue Navy Destroyer named Shiokaze, Hiroyuki Endou, the voice of Slane in “Meshimase Lodoss-tō Senki Sorette Oishii no?” and Rui in “Sora o Miageru Shōjo no Hitomi ni Utsuru Sekai” will be the acting voice.

Overall the short is not only a show of action and aliens but it acts as a way to hopefully boost tourism in the area after the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami disaster.

Now as of Wednesday, the short by Onahama City Planning Citizens Conference and Fukushima Gainax has a streaming on NicoNico and Youtube released.
