Doraemon Exhibit Features Doraemons of Different Styles Starting November 1

See a new look to the iconic blue cat robot that is Doraemon on November 1 up to January 8, 2018 as the Mori Arts Center Gallery in Tokyo holds the “Doraemon exhibition TOKYO 2017”where different artists from all over the world shall be presenting their own versions of the character in response to the call of “Please make your Doraemon”

More than a character, “Doraemon” is a series that was first published in 1969 and was created by Fujiko Fujio, an artist whose works dates as far back as the sixties. As an added note Fujiko is in fact not one person but a duo who entered into a partnership in 1951, they are Hiroshi Fujimoto and Motoo Abiko. In their partnership as Fujiko, they created a number of works including “Chimpui” and “Esper Mami.”

For the Doraemon series itself, it tells the story of a young boy named Nobito who is not only doesn’t have the best of grades but is being constantly bullied as well. In order to improve their lives, Nobita’s descendants send a blue robotic cat to the past in order to protect and guide Nobito.

With a pocket that produces items known as “gadgets”, which range from toys and medicines, to technology from the future, Doraemon brings in a whole new world of wackiness and adventures for Nobito in his attempts to help and guide him.

Doraemon has run for years and in those years the blue character has gained a popularity that has marked the blue character as an icon in the anime community as a figure of the vintage era of anime/manga.
