There are hundreds of new manga that are being or are about to be released for this year with a variety of stories and genres to choose from. Sometimes you look forward to a possible sequel to a series that you have been following, other times you’re looking for something completely new. Well, here is a list of five comedy manga that may either leave you laughing out loud or scratching your head, but then what comedy in the anime/manga doesn’t if you think about it.
5. Sokuhi Shigan!
A person from the real world suddenly finds themselves placed into a fantasy world, sound familiar? There are hundreds of stories that have done this formula in the genre of fantasy, romance and action or a combination of all three. Well for this story, we have a twist in the form of Aida Kiyoka, a part time cleaner who falls into a parallel world and is taken in by a kind lady. While she tries to adjust to her new life, she, someone with a love for cleanliness faces a problem, regular households have no baths. One day she hears that there is chance to be consort to the king, and believing that she will find clean baths in a life of luxury, applies for the position.
4. Harapeko no Marie
This is the tale of a boy named Taiga who fell in love with the girl next door, but with the clashing religious practices of their homes, the two almost never get to interact even while at school. But this is not a Romeo and Juliet type of story. No this is story that centers not only on the neighbouring pair but on the ghost of an 18th century princess roaming the girl’s home. One day the boy volunteers to help the girl with the summoning of the spirit in hopes of getting closer to her, but thanks to a mistake in the ritual, Taiga soon finds himself sharing a body with the spirit of the princess!
3. Bokutachi wa Benkyou ga Dekinai
Yuiga Nariyuki, while a prodigy in terms of intelligence, was not given the most prestigious of a home life. With his father passed away he lives with his large family in a life of poverty, so in order to support his beloved family, Nariyuki aims to achieve a full-time scholarship. One day his headmaster offers him a chance to achieve this goal on one condition. He is to become a tutor to the literary genius Furuhashi Fumino and her friend, the science genius of the school Ogata Rizu so they may be able to get into their dream college. The catch however is that Fumino wishes to major in science while Rin wishes to major in literature, subjects that they fail heavily at.
2. Maou-jou de Oyasumi
Here is a familiar formula, a princess is captured by a demon king and trapped inside a tower. Most often than not this would result in a fantasy or romance story of the hero going through dangerous trials in order to save the princess, resulting in the two falling in love and living happily ever after. This is not that story. In this story the princess struggles not for freedom, no, her struggle comes in the form of finding a good night’s sleep. From finding a soft pillow to a soft blanket with what she can find in the demon abode she is in, she will do it for the sake of a comfortable sleep.
1. Ayane Oujou-sama wa Sanova B**ch ni Araserareru
What’s wrong with having fun by yourself? For an heiress known as Lady Ayane, nothing. While her butler watches in worry from afar, Ayane finds enjoyment in doing activities that is usually enjoyed with company, from bowling, to visiting cafes, and even going to a waterpark, she finds a way to enjoy herself in all of them. Meanwhile, her butler, Shinobayashi along with others such a fellow heiress, a classmate and other side characters watches her as she breezes through these social activities, elevating her to a variety of roles ranging from a circus handler, a soldier and even a goddess in their eyes.
