Over the past few years up to this point, millions of viewers hastily looked for new ways to entertain themselves.
Minoru Takanashi is an anime producer of over 30 works which comprises of 19 OAVs, 12 TV series, and 6 films. One his very first works was in 1988 and it was a mini-series titled “Gunbuster” which told the story of a young girl chosen to pilot a colossal robot as part of Earth’s defence against a space war. For a number of years he has produced a variety of space themed works that have gained recognition in the anime community.
However, as striking as all his production works were, this all comes to an end this year. On April 12, artist and colleague Takanashi, Nobuteru Yuuki, who worked on the character design of the fantasy series “Escaflowne” and animated for supernatural martial arts series “Battle Royal High School”, reports on his twitter that at the age of 54, the veteran producer that is Minoru Takanashi has passed away.
From his post on his official twitter, it translates:
Bandai visual producer Takanashi Minoru passed away. I think that the title Escaflowne could not be realized without his planning power. It is like yesterday that 2199 was also highly appreciated, and various eyes of the goods such as deployment “let’s do it!” Made eyes shimmer. I pray for your souls.
So far Takanashi’s more popular production works have been recognized to be for the films of the space western series, “Cowboy Bebop” and the fantasy series “Escaflowne.” As for TV Series, his most recognized works consist of the space musical series Macross’ 7, the action series “Gate Keepers”, the OAVs for the mecha series Gundam’s 0080, and Char’s Counter Attack.
There are no details behind the passing of the veteran producer, but he will be missed by fans and remembered for his remarkable production work.
