Everybody knows Sanrio— the company that has brought you one of the most popular characters like Hello Kitty, My Melody, Kerokeropi, and so on. Aside from those mentioned, Cinnamon is also one popular character as well. In fact, the series is now 15 years old!
Enjoy a fluffy treat with the adorable characters of “Cinnamoroll” and their fluffy food truck modeled after the series protagonist Cinnamon, as they travel across Japan to delight the people in their exploration of the world of fluffy foods. Inspired by the characters under the specific franchise, the food truck, known as the “Cinnamon Wagon”, is on tour in celebration of the character’s 15th anniversary.
Created in Sanrio in 2001, the series tells of the adventures of Cinnamon, a white puppy with long ears and a tail resembling a cinnamon and the ability to float. He is the official mascot of Café Cinnamon, and when he isn’t napping on the café’s terrace, he’s off having an adventure with his group of friends.
Currently the truck has gone to the Chōjūdai-ULTRA TEENS FES-2017@TOKYO event held at Tokyo’s Makuhari Messe center on March 28. The tour began on February 26 in Shibuya with a special give away of a “Citrus Candy” gift on top of perusing the cafe’s unique “cloud-like” foods such as cotton candy was given to the first 400 visitors.
On another note, it has been confirmed that there will be a continuation of the tour once the shops are decided.
Cinamonroll’s popularity in Japan and worldwide has grown over the years which expanded from anime, video games, manga, and even in other cameo appearances from other Sanrio-related media. There seems to be no stopping this little creature from taking over the world with its irresistible cuteness.
This character has been so popular that it even had an appearance in one of the music videos of the popular Japanese girl band Scandal. Sanrio also did a collaboration with a music producer and composer called MasatakaP to produce an animated video which is goes along with the 10th anniversary of the popular software MikuMikuDance in 2012. In the same year, a Japanese music group called OSTER project released an album called “Cinnamon Trip!!” which contains a total of 9 songs sung by the franchises’ characters.
As Cinnamonroll continues to spread the cuteness all around Japan, let’s hope we get to have similar events in the near future.
