Official Website for "Children of the Whales" Reveals New Visual, Preview and Main Staff

Enter into a mystical world where moving islands and people gifted with special abilities exist in “Kujira no Kora wa Sajou ni Uta” a.k.a. “Children of the Whales” as an official website opens for the upcoming anime with a new visual, preview video and the revelation of the main staff to work on the surreal fantasy work.

Based on the manga of the same name by Abi Umeda, the story tells of a mysterious moving island known as “Mud Whale” floating in a sea of sand and completely cut-off from any other human civilization.

On this island, however, there lives people with both a gift and a curse of wielding special powers known as “samia” but at the cost of losing one’s life span with every use. The main focus of this story though, is on a young archivist named Chakuro, who, upon meeting a girl from a different island, finds his entire life changed and his destiny altered.

For the staff to work on this film, the acting director is Ishiguro Kyohei, recognized for his directing work in the series “Occult; Nine.” Working on the series composition of the series is also the man who worked on “xxxHolic” Michiko Yokote.

Designing the characters for the upcoming series is the artist Haruka Iizuka. Directing the art is the man who worked on the popular anime “Yuri!!! On Ice” Toshiharu Mizutani. Composing the music for the production is composer Hiroaki Tsutsumi, recognized for having done the music for the series “Blue Spring Ride” and “Orange.” Overall the production will be under the hands of the “J.C. Staff” group.
