Some (More) Magical Girl Shows to Watch On Your Days Off

As the weekend rolls in, it is the perfect time to sit back, relax, and just watch some nostalgic mahou shoujo shows. We have heard you and you guys wanted more—here are some MORE magical girl shows to watch on your break from work or at school. Have you watched all the shows mentioned on this list?

Cardcaptor Sakura

Cardcaptor Sakura is one of CLAMP’s most successful franchises. Based from the manga of the same name, it is about an ordinary girl named Sakura Kinomoto whose life has changed forever after finding The Book of Clow in their basement. With the Clow Cards scattered all around Tomoeda, it is Sakura’s job as Card Captor to get them back before they wreak havoc.

Princess Tutu

Released in 2002, Princess Tutu is a show that was inspired by the ballet Swan Lake and fairy tale The Ugly Duckling. The anime is about a duck who transforms into the ballerina Princess Tutu in order to save a storybook prince who had a shattered heart.

Revolutionary Girl Utena

Aside from Sailor Moon is probably one of the first mahou shoujo series you’ve watched that had some yuri vibes. Based on the popular manga of the same name, the story is about a tomboyish girl named Utena Tenjou who decides that she just wanted to play a prince or knight role instead of being an elegant princess. This realization is evident in her personality and choice of clothes.

The anime is known for its aesthetic art and visuals that makes you think you’re watching an animated Takarazuka play.

Akazukin Chacha

Ahh yes, Akazukin Chacha! The cute little girl in a red riding hood outfit who can transform herself into the Magical Princess with the help of her friends and her Princess Medallion pendant. The anime had very memorable characters that will always remain unforgettable even until this present day.
