The anime opening is most often than not the first thing that viewer sees when they open an anime and it was leaves a general idea to the viewer on what the anime may be generally be about. From a bright and cheery song to represent a comedy anime to a rock and roll song to a more action pack anime, the opening is the first impression that is meant to attract the viewer to watch more if possible.
However, there are times when the opening does not do what it is meant to. In fact, there are openings that lead the viewer on with an idea of the anime, however, upon watching the anime itself, they are left baffled by what they watch as it is not what the opening made it out to be. True enough there are those who seek out the summary of an anime before watching or see the ratings, but to those who are simply curious, here are three anime with a misleading opening.
3. Kotoura-san
Looking at it, you would expect a romantic comedy between a girl who can read minds and a perverted boy who has fallen in love with her. But within this bubbly looking anime lies a rather sad story unseen.
2. Death Parade
From the title, itself, one cannot help but be curious on what it would be about and in seeing this upbeat and party scene of an opening, you would think this was an anime set in a night life scene. But think again on the title and be prepared for the truth of the plot.
1. Orenchi no Furu Jijou
Roughly translating to “A Merman in my Bathtub”, the opening leaves a rather shounen genre feeling with a fast-paced beat, hard rock tone and generally gritty colouring. But with such a title, it does leave a sense of confusion for the viewer who has no prior knowledge of the anime.
