Madman Entertainment brings ‘A Silent Voice' movie to Australia and New Zealand

Kyoto Animation’s box office hit A Silent Voice (Koe no Katachi) anime film is coming to Australia and New Zealand next month! Madman Entertainment announced on Thursday that the film will open on April 6 in Australia, and on April 16 in New Zealand.

“A Silent Voice is a poignant story about disability, bullying and friendship,” Madman Entertainment posted in its website.

The film adapts Yoshitoki Ōima original A Silent Voice manga. Directed by Yamada Naoko, it is the 19th highest-grossing film in Japan in 2016, grossing a total of ¥2.3 billion.

Movie Synopsis (by Madman Entertainment)

“Shoya Ishida starts bullying the new girl in class, Shoko Nishimiya, because she is deaf. But as the teasing continues, the rest of the class starts to turn on Shoya for his lack of compassion. When they leave elementary school, Shoko and Shoya do not speak to each other again… until an older, wiser Shoya, tormented by his past behaviour, decides he must see Shoko once more. He wants to atone for his sins, but is it already too late…?”
