The live-action film adaptation of Arakawa’s hit Fullmetal Alchemist (Hagane no Renkinjutsushi) manga is slated to open in Japanese theaters on December 1 this year. Apart from its premiere date, the film also posted a CG photo (above) of Alphonse Elric.
Who will voice Alphonse has yet to be revealed but according to reports, Al’s avatar was created using a new visual technology which was invented intently for the film, making Fullmetal Alchemist the first Japanese film to use such technology.
Meanwhile, Japanese idol Hey! Say! JUMP group’s Ryōsuke Yamada (live-action Assassination Classroom‘s Nagisa) will play the role of Edward Elric. Tsubasa Honda (live-action Blue Spring Ride’s Futaba) will be Winry Rockbell, and Dean Fujioka will be Roy Mustang.
Fumihiko Sori is directing the film.
The live-action movie is said to place the whole original Fullmetal Alchemist manga into one whole movie. Knowing the mass length of chapters that the movie production has to go through, let’s hope that this adaptation will really keep the original essence of the series and the entire FMA franchise.
