On March 4th to April 5th at the Fuerai Science Museum located in Koriyama City, Fukushima Prefecture is a screening event for the anime adaptation to the visual novel “Planeterium” by Key’s. First released in Japan in 2007, it was initially developed as a way to ease new players into visual novels. Since then the kinetic novel has garnered much praise for not only having a relatively short play time in comparison to other novels but also for having a gripping narrative.
The story tells of a post-apocalyptic world where a middle-aged man simply known as “The Junker” discovers a malfunctioning robot in a dead city. He decides to stay with the robot and in the meanwhile, attempts to fix the projector of the planetarium in which he is placed for the story.
Releasing an anime adaptation in the previous year, it has reached a critical acclaim and because of this and the fact that the game is set within an abandoned planetarium, it has been deemed appropriate to have the special version to be screened in an actual planetarium where a starry sky scene from the anime will be modified to fit in the planetarium’s dome screen. In addition to this, a scene in the anime adaptation shall be having its dialogue switched to the one in the original scene.
