The unique tale between a polar bear and white seal known as “Koisuru Shirokuma” a.k.a “Polar Bear in Love” is announced on Wednesday by its staff to have its “petite anime” adaptation released in 50 theatres in Japan along with a new visual depicting the large bear chasing the none too happy seal for the upcoming adaptation.
The manga, which was created by illustrator Koromo, tells the story of a polar bear that falls in love with an earless white seal. Though the bear, “Polar Bear” wants nothing more than to protect and care for the seal, the seal simply known as “Seal” constantly evades him with the belief that the bear wants nothing more than to eat him. First released in December 2014 in the free manga app known as Comico, the manga was only serialized in the Monthly Comic Gene in June 2015. As of this time, Koromo will be releasing the third compiled book volume on March 27.
For the anime, acting as director and penning the script is Kazuya Ichikawa, the director of the series, “Tantei Team KZ Jiken Note”, and “Monster Strike the Animation.” Working on the sound direction is the man who has directed the sound for the works, “Penguindrum”, “The Garden of Words”, and “your name”, Yoo Yamada.
Acting as the voice behind the earless seal seeking escape from being eater and simply known as “Seal” is Natsuki Hanae, known to have voiced as Kousei Arima in “Your Lie in April” and Aoi “Tora” Torasaki in “Absolute Duo.” Playing as the love struck polar bear named as “Polar Bear” is the voice behind characters Takumi Fujii/Tiger the Dark in “Tiger Mask” and Kuroo Hazama/Black Jack in “Young Black Jack.”
Beginning on March 4 theatres will be showing the “petit anime” before movie trailers in movie screenings.
