Hiroyuki Takei Declines Plans for New 'Shaman King' Remake, Original Music and Cast Could Not Be Used

In his official Twitter account on Tuesday, Shaman King manga creator Hiroyuki Takei announced that plans for a new Shaman King anime remake is not pushing through for the reason that the original anime cast as well as the music could not be used. You may check out his tweet here.

Here is a translation of his tweet: To be honest there were serious discussions on an anime remake, but… since we couldn’t use the voice actors and music from the original work, I declined. Still, it would be nice to have another chance.

The Shaman King manga started in 1998 and ended 2004. A reprint of the manga series also revealed the franchise’s “true ending” in 2009. The series gained more popularity when the anime adaptation aired from 2001 to 2002 with a total of 64 episodes. Aside from the manga, Takei also drew Shaman King 0, a series of short stories as well as the sequel Shaman King Flowers. The latter ran from 2012 to 2014 in the Weekly Shonen Jump.
