A series that first began in 2002, “Duel Master” has garnered a number of series films and manga works over the years. On Friday at an event the “Duel Masters” staff made an announcement of a new instalments for both the manga and anime series of the franchise. For the manga series set to be released on February 15, readers can find the work in Shogakukan’s Coro Coro Comics. The anime on the other hand is set to premier around April and both shall be recognized as simply, “Duel Masters.”
For the new series, it shall be introducing a new character named Joe Kirifuda, as the protagonist. Acting for this character is the voice behind characters Ouyama in “Angel Beats” and Poco in “Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure” as well as the protagonists of the previous series, is Yumiko Kobayashi.
Playing as Decky, the protagonist’s companion described to hold a secret power is Setsuji Satoh, the voice behind Naretarou Mina of the previous series, “Duel Masters VS R”as well as Gai Usui of “Cardfight !!! Vanguard”and Foxcon of “Beast Saga.” Toshiyuki Toyonaga, recognized for his prominent role as Yuuri Katsuki in “Yuri!!! On Ice” and known to have played in popular volleyball anime “Haikyuu” as Kenjirou Shirabou is acting as the voice of Kira, Joe’s best friend and rival.
For this series the story tells of the crumbling balance of the realm known as Creature World. Because of this, Decky, a talking deck case travels to the human realm in order to search for a Duel Master to restore the balance of their world. It is there he meets Joe Kirifuda, a young boy with the ability to create creatures.
Not much else is known for the upcoming series other than the details given but the official website has already been streaming a trailer for the new series since last month. It gives introduction Joe as the new protagonist and also features an advertisement for the franchise’s latest series “Duel Master VSRF” where a young Joe Kirifuda can be seen as well.
