As good as watching new and upcoming of this year may be, anime fans both new and old can still be able to find entertainment in the classics of the anime community. Yet while some of those classics may have ended on a satisfactory note in some cases and unsatisfactory in others, there are a few anime that continue to push through until today. The following three have at this time been running for what seems to be decade yet they still hold that note that brought in the viewers.
3. Detective Conan
Telling the tale of a male high school detective who was drugged and turned into a child when investigating a disturbance, the story follows the adventures of Kuduo Shinichi a.k.a Edogawa Conan. Currently there are over 800-900 episodes running with even a new film ready to be released. This an anime that took a new look into the mystery genre that is rarely found today and contains its own unique piece though it has evolved with the times through art style and setting.
2. One Piece
First released in 1999, it has been almost a decade and the series continues to run with new adventures and character stories to keep it going. Currently running with over 700 episodes, what once started as a tale of a young man starting out to sea with the goal of becoming Pirate King has grown to a full grown epic of pirates, marines, devil fruits and adventures in fantastical islands where Luffy and his crew inadvertently help people out.
1. Dragon Ball
By far one of the most iconic shows in the entire anime community, Dragon Ball’s latest series is entitled “Dragon Ball Super” and currently has over 70-80 episodes and is the first series of the franchise to cover a new story in 18 years. Though it does give a retelling of previous series, what makes it different is its exploration of other worlds as well as the re-emergence of an old character. In a way it’s an old show with a new coat of paint and a new story for both new and old fans alike.
