A Virtual Reality (VR) developer FOVE (California-based company and co-founded by Yuka Kojima, Sony Interactive’s game producer) is giving Sword Art Online fans another reason to buy its VR headset— you will be able to meet one of the series’ female protagonists, Asuna! Below is a video of Haruka Tomatsu (Japanese voice actress of Asuna) showing off the headset:
Users will be guided by Asuna on how the headset works. The device also serves as your “concierge” and will read your eye movements. Keep in mind that in some eye movements you make, she will react to them. Some examples are the following: When you look at Asuna straight in the eyes, she smiles at you. If you look at her chest, she’ll get angry. The company said that this device will make the experience a “natural communication like never before”.
Those who don’t have the FOVE 0 device yet don’t need to worry for they can always visit an Internet cafe (with the VR platform Virtual Gate) to experience this. The service will begin on January 31 to July 31 for South Korea and Japan. More announcements will be given the soonest time in the FOVE website.
