When the announcement came for the premier of anime adaptation “Onihei’s” premier it has also been reported that a 40-minute OVA (original video animation) entitled “Onhei ~Sono Otoko, Hasegawa Heizō~” a.k.a “Onihei: This Man, Heizō Hasegawa” was in production prior to the release of the adaption there was very little details given. Now further details have been released on the OVA with the streaming of a promotional video by TMS Entertainment. To add to this, there has also been reports in regards to the staff and cast.
Featuring protagonist Heizo’s early years as told by characters Kumehachi, Hikojū, Omasa, and others who know and admire him, the animation will be directed by Shigeyuki Miya, recognized for having directed works such as “Blood Lad” and “Buzzer Beater”. Working on the character designs are companies “Madhouse”, “MAPPA” with founder Masao Maruyama whom is also acting as a producer though TMS Entertainment will be credited for the production of both anime and OVA. SO far this will be the first of Ikenami’s (the creator’s) works to be adapted into an anime.
For the animation itself the cast includes the voice for both the OVA and the series protagonist Heizo is the man who voiced as Kintaro in “Ginatama” and Leonardo Apollo in “Eyeshield 21”, Kenyuu Horiuchi. Playing as Omasa, the female spy in love with Heizo is Romi Park having played in previous roles such as Clara in “Blood+” and Temari in “Naruto”. Last but not least, playing as Heizo’s son Tatsuzo is the voice behind “Black Lagoon’s” Rock and “Fairy Tail’s” Jeral; Mystogan; Siegrain; Daisuke Namikawa.
In additional news it has also been shown in the video that on February 22, the day of the DVD release there will also be a shipment of bonus items to go with it. Along with the release of the pilot version of the anime there will be a bundle of an exclusive compilation edition of the original novel series and the projects pilot video. Overall the DVD will retail for 5,800 yen (about US$50).
