In the final episode of the anime series Drifters which ended on Friday, the episode end card left a teaser that hints of a second season in “20XX”. The production of the anime series is a way of celebrating the 70th anniversary of Shonengahosha (the original publisher of the Drifters manga.
The anime was directed by Kouta Hirano who also directed the JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure anime series. He is accompanied by the following staff members: scriptwriter and series composition head Hideyuki Kurata with Yousuke Koruda as co-scriptwriter. Ryoji Nakamori is the chief animation director as well as the character designer.

From the creator and team behind Hellsing comes a thrilling story where history and fantasy collide. Shimazu Toyohisa, a famous samurai who fought in the historical Battle of Sekigahara, is transported to another world when only moments from death. From that moment on, he becomes part of a group known as “Drifters” and is forced to battle against other legendary warriors in an ultimate death game.
