As of Monday and during its 108th day of screening, Makoto Shinkai’s successful anime movie to date, Kimi no Na wa has surpassed the ticket sales of the first Harry Potter movie which was at 20.3 billion yen. The movie has now earned a total of 20,510,000,000 yen and it is still screening not only in Japan but also in other parts of the world.
It is now Japan’s fourth highest-grossing film of all all time and second highest-grossing anime film to date. Studio Ghibli’s Spirited Away is still ranked at number one in high-grossing anime film ticket sales at 30.8 billion yen.
Kimi ni Na wa dominated the Chinese box office during its second weekend of screening. Cinemas in the Philippines have also started showing the movie as well. There’s seem to be no stopping this movie from dominating the cinemas worldwide!
