Office ENDLESS has just announced that they will be producing a stage play adaptation of the classic Yu Yu Hakusho manga series! The stage play adaptation will be written and directed by Chuji Mikasano, most known as the writer and script supervisor of the Tokyo Ghoul anime series. He also served as the director of the Touken Ranbu stage musicals.

Tsubasa Sakiyama, most known for portraying Ishikirimaru in the Touken Ranbu musicals, will be playing lead character Yusuke Urameshi. Below are the list of confirmed cast members:

• Tsubasa Sakiyama as Yusuke Urameshi
• Naoya Goumoto as Kazuma Kuwabara
• Hiroki Suzuki as Kurama
• Shōhei Hashimoto as Hiei
• Mirai as Keiko Yukimura
• Mio Kaoshima as Atsuko Urameshi
• Yuka Hirata as Botan
• Kenta Nitta as Gōki
• Elizabeth Marry as Genkai
• Hirofumi Araki as Koenma

Check out the official teaser visual for the stage play below, which features the five main characters.

According to Office ENDLESS’ press release, the Yu Yu Hakusho stage play will first run at the Theater 1010 in Tokyo from August 28 to September 2. The stage play will then be brought to Osaka and will be showcased at the Morinomiya Piloti Hall from September 4 to 8, then to the Momochi Palace in Fukuoka from September 10 to 12. The play’s last stop will be in Aichi, at the Ichinomiya Community Hall from September 20 to 22.

Yu Yu Hakusho was written by Yoshihiro Togashi, also known as the author of the Hunter x Hunter manga series. He is also the husband of Naoko Takeuchi, the author of Sailor Moon. Togashi first published Yu Yu Hakusho in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump in 1990, and remained with the magazine until the series ended in 1994. An anime adaptation of Yu Yu Hakusho aired from 1992 to 1994, which enjoyed huge success in Japan and in other countries as well.
