Eleven Arts to Screen ‘Penguin Highway’ Anime Film in US and Canada Theaters!

It was unveiled on Tuesday by Eleven Arts that they will be screening Hiroyasu Ishida and Studio Colorido’s penguin highway in US and Canada theaters on April 12 and April 19 respectively. They also released an English-subtitled trailer as well:

Those who are interested to watch the film, you can check out their website for the list of complete venues. The film officially premiered in the United States during last year’s Crunchyroll Expo in September. It officially premiered in Japan on August 17 last year at ranked #10 at the box office on tis opening weekend.

Based on the novel of the same name by Tomihiko Morimi, penguin highway is centered on a fourth grader named Aoyama and mysterious older woman who is dental assistant and Aoyama’s first crush. When a group of penguins sudden appear his quiet neighbor, it’s up to Aoyama to discover the reason for their appearance.

The original novel is licensed by manga and book publisher Yen Press.

penguin highway received the “Axis: The Satoshi Kon Award of Excellence in Animation” award for Best Animated Feature during Fantasia International Film Festival held in Montreal last July. It is also been nominated in the VFX-Japan Awards for the Animated Theatrical Film Category.
