Posted in: Anime News

According to a tweet by WTK, Laughing Under the Clouds Gaiden has now been listed with 9 20-minute additions for Shochiku Films’ English information page. This event strongly contradicts the official webpage of Laughing Under the Clouds Gaiden which is still listing the anime series in three parts. Nonetheless, the Shochiku Films’ English information page is a validated source and has provided fans with an unusual update.

To clarify, this theatrical anime project was initially announced as a film. Shortly after, however, the film staff clarified that this series was actually a film trilogy. The first theatrical film, titled Donten ni Warau Gaiden: Ketsubetsu, Yamainu no Chikai (Laughing Under the Clouds Gaiden – Parting, The Oath of the Yamainu), will debut in Japan on December 2nd.

Furthermore, the Laughing Under the Clouds Gaiden films actually have a very impressive staff. Tetsuya Wakano (composition director), Kii Tanaka (character designer and chief animation director), Hitomi Ezoe (assistant director), and Yutaka Yamada (composer), are noteworthy professionals who have collectively worked on popular anime series such as: My Hero Academia, Tokyo Ghoul, Konosuba, and JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure

With the exception of Toru Ohkawa and Fumiko Orikasa who voice Taiko Kumo and Koyuki Kumo respectively, all of the films’ cast will be returning from the anime series.
