While conventions are perfect venues to just go around in cosplay, there are some mini-events in these conventions where cosplayers have the opportunity to go up on stage and just do their stuff. However, there will always be a first time for everyone—and that first time can make you nervous.
Due to popular demand, I have decided to talk about this topic and I hope these small tips would have help you conquer your cosplay stage fright and just enjoy the whole event to your hearts content.
Just Relax
The most basic of all basic tips when it comes to cosplay presentations on stage is to just relax. Breathe in, breathe out. If you feel anxious or a bit stressed, having some soft or squishy like a stressball can help you lessen the tension and nervousness.
Remember, You’re Not Alone
Just remember that you are not the only cosplayer will be going up on stage. They are going to be a lot of you. So don’t feel like you are left out in the stage area because there a lot of awesome people who are there who have the same purpose and love for cosplay as you do.
Do A Little Rehearsal
Practice makes perfect. If you still got enough time to practice, you can do a little rehearsal backstage while wait for you turn to perform. Practicing and rehearsing your poses and moves can lessen the nervousness and mistakes. It helps every single time.
Be Proud, This is Your Moment
You are given one to a few minutes to show your stuff. Be proud that you are a cosplayer portraying your favorite character on stage. Be the character and just express to the audience. The key to proper character portrayal to is knowing the character inside out from movement, to speech, poses, and so on.
Have Fun
Of course, the core of this is to have fun. Remember to just enjoy the moment and make it something that you will never forget in your life.
