Kojima Productions announced yesterday in their official Twitter account that the supposed release of their debut game Death Stranding for PC has been delayed. According to the tweet, the delay was decided on to “allow more development time amidst the current work-from-home orders in place”. Death Stranding’s new release date for PC is now set for July 14.
The game’s physical and digital copies for PC were originally slated for a June 2 release.
It was previously reported that a male employee from Kojima Productions has tested positive for the COVID-19 on March 30. All employees have been working from home since the said date.
The PC version of the game will feature a Photo Mode, ultra-wide support, high frame rate, and content from Valve’s Half-Life game series. It will also include selections from The Art of Death Stranding digital art book, an expanded soundtrack, chiral gold and omni-reflector Ludens Mask sunglasses, and in-game items including a gold and silver power skeleton, all-terrain skeleton, and armor plate.
The game was released worldwide for gaming consoles last November 8.
Kojima Productions describes the game as such:
“Besieged by death’s tide at every turn, Sam Bridges must brave a world utterly transformed by the Death Stranding. Carrying the stranded remnants of the future in his hands, Sam embarks on a journey to reunite the shattered world one step at a time. What is the mystery of the Death Stranding? What will Sam discover on the road ahead? A genre defining gameplay experience holds these answers and more.”
Main character Sam Bridges is based on actor Norman Reedus, who also lent his voice to the character. Antagonist Cliff, on the other hand, is based on and is voiced by Danish actor Mads Mikkelsen. Below are the other characters and the corresponding personalities on which they are modeled from:
· Fragile – Lea Seydoux
· Mama – Margaret Qualley
· Deadman – Guillermo del Toro
· Heartman – Nicolas Winding Refn
· Die-Hardman – Tommie Earl Jenkins
· Higgs – Troy Baker
· Amelie – Lindsay Wagner
The game was developed using Guerilla Games’ Decima Engine. The game is described as an open-world action game “with some degree of freedom”. Death Stranding is Kojima’s first game since his much-publicized departure from Konami after working for the company for three decades. He has since formed an independent game studio, Kojima Productions, with Death Stranding as their first release.
