Synopsis
A shoujo loving girl named Yuu awaits the day she gets a love confession that sends her heart aflutter with bubbles and blushes. However, upon being confessed to by a junior high classmate, she finds herself feeling nothing. Confused and disappointed with this, Yuu enters high school with conflicted feelings. One day, however, she sees the beautiful student council president Nanami turn down a suitor with such maturity that she’s inspired to ask her for help. When the next person confess to Yuu is Nanami herself though, does it mean the romance that she’s been searching for has arrived?
The Good
Here’s the main element that would hook the viewer into the series. It has just about all the elements of a generic boy meets girl romance, but it’s a slow burn between a same-sex couple. The thing about this is that a slow burn type of romance is almost never seen with same-sex couple stories. Most often than not it’s them confessing, getting together and then having all kinds of chemistry moments. Other than this, a lot of times there seems to be an unrealistic note to them. With this series, it takes away those usual notes and gives something completely different with the main character being unsure of romance and actually wanting to get to know the other first before anything. Basically, the way it presents the intro to its relationship development has a strong point.
The Bad
There is, however, a downside to the series taking on a different route with its romance. While the tension growing between the main girls may have a possible payoff, the way it continues to grow without much development going on between them is a bit much. With three episodes already there seems to be a touch of heaviness on the drama and points where it gets a little too poetic. Simply put, the series could pave itself out better with the characters and their relationships. The way that it is going now, it’s getting rather clumsy in how it deals with the relationship development.
Conclusion
It’s a series that takes a first in developing the romance between a same-sex couple. There is good tension built up between the two but the way that it is going by the third episode, there seems to be a little too much tension and not enough development between the characters. The series does have potential in giving a softly toned romance, but so far it’s rather clumsy in developing towards it.
