Rainy Cocoa Returns for a 5th Season

Coming in January 2019 is the “Rainy Cocoa” anime’s fifth season. With the new season, it will be taking on a different route from before by featuring a female cast.

Titled as “Rainy Cocoa side G,” the series will broadcast on Tokyo MX on Tuesdays during the 25: 00-time slot (actually at 1:00 AM JST on Wednesday morning) beginning on January 08, 2019. Following this the series will be broadcasted on Sun TV on Thursdays during the 22: 55-time slot beginning on January 10, 2019.

So far a new key visual has been released and the main cast is revealed with Eriko Matsuo and Miharu Hanai as the voices of Yohko Amami, the daughter of Rainy Color owner Koji Amami and Meru Kashiwagi respectively. Other voice talents to be featured in the series include Chiaki Omigawa, Nichika Ohmori, Hara Natsuko, Marina Yamada, Aina Suzuki, Ryō Horikawa, and others.

It was back in April, that the fifth season of the series was revealed via a posted on the series’ official Youtube channel. The video featured Ryo Horikawa narrating the video as Kōji Amami.

The series was first released as a bilingual Japanese digital manga series under the publication of IAM in May 2013 with a total of 4 volumes. The anime adaptation of the work and the first season of the series made its debut in April 2015. It lasted until June 2015 with a total of 12 episodes. Following this in October 2015 and 2016, the second and third seasons were released. The fourth season of the series was aired last October.

With the fourth season, it featured the Hawaii coffee shop which was opened in the third season. This time, the shop is struggling so the owner Amami brings back a Shiba Inu named Nana to be their mascot. Apparently, Nana has the special ability to sniff out good coffee. The series was directed by Hisashi Ishii and written by Saeka Fujimoto.
