Synopsis
This is the story of two scientists named Yukimura Shinya and Himuro Ayame. When one admits to having feelings for the other and the other replies the same, they decide to try and understand love through scientific theory. Through theoretical facts and different “romance” experiments, these scientists will attempt to solve the theory of the love they express for each other. these scientists will attempt to solve the theory of the love they express for each other.
The Good
There are all kinds of stories that tackle the idea of characters figuring out love but unique ideas like the science concept here are always fun. The way that the characters are so earnest with their study and experiments is really endearing and also brings a good touch of humor to the series. Shinya and Ayame are not the only interesting characters of the stories though as the other characters of the series also had some fun moments given to them.
Other than the interesting character development via science, the relationship development between Shinya and Ayame is also another good point of the series. It’s not necessarily as romantic development, but it is a sweet one. Just seeing the way that the two bond and form this certain dynamic made for an interesting read. That and the way their different personality quirks pop out is also fun.
The Bad
As interesting as the whole science concept of the series, the way that they go about is rather cliche. The series has this chance to do something different given how it’s tackling a different concept of understanding love, but nope, we get cliche scenarios instead. Honestly, it would have been interesting instead to see them trying to measure romantic emotions through things like doing something they enjoy together in close contact. It’s not bad that they’re trying to figure out things through cliche scenarios, but something different from what is expected of a shoujo series would be nice for once.
Conclusion
It’s a shoujo series that has an interesting twist to it, that’s always fun to read. Sure, it goes with the cliche and expected scenarios but the characters more than make up for it. Just seeing the different personality quirks that pop up when they conduct their tests makes the series all the worth reading. If it expanded beyond the cliches and took on a romantic scenario that is more personal to the characters though, it would really bring out the series even more.
