Synopsis
This is a romantic comedy that follows the daily lives of high school couple Atsuhiro “Akkun” Kagari and Non “Nontan” Katagiri. Akkun is an extreme tsundere who is constantly harsh towards Nontan. This harsh behavior is but a mask as he is truly head over heels for her. In fact, he is so head over heels for her that he has stalker tendencies towards her. Nontan in turn is also head over heels for Akkun and doesn’t mind his harsh behavior, though she is unaware of his stalker ways.
The Good
Nontan may seem like an oblivious female on paper, but she does in fact make for an interesting character in how insightful she is to Akkun’s tsundere side. And as weird yet comedic as Akkun’s stalker tendencies, the fact that he is so dedicated and secretly loving to Nontan makes for a sweet character dynamic. Just the whole relationship between the two makes for a quirky and fun watch. Other than the two, Masago makes for a nice friend though he does have his own strange quality as well.
The Bad
The only real issue to be found with the series so far aside from how short the episodes are, is the dynamic between the characters. Given how they all have a quirky side to them, it would have been nice to have a character who was plain, without a quirky side and still either Akkun or Nontan’s friend just to balance them out. With all the characters being something like into 2D girls or being the opposite of Akkun, it feels like the focus could on any of them rather than the couple. It’s minor but it may cause impact.
Conclusion
It’s quirky and cute, what else can be said? With how short the episodes are and there being only 3 so far, there isn’t much to critique other than the length and the character dynamics. The couple is cute, but the concept may not be for everyone. And given how all the characters so far have a quirky side to them, there is chance of things becoming chaotic in certain episodes. Other than that, there’s a lot of cute, comedic potential to be found with the series.
