Prior to the release of Mamoru Hosoda’s latest film “Mirai of the Future”, it has been announced that there will be a novelization of it to be penned by Hosoda himself and shipped in three versions under Kadokawa.
Announced via the official site of the film and all prices at 560 yen (which equals 5.20 U.S Dollars), the first version is to shipped on June 15 under the company’s Kadokawa Bunko literature label. For the second version, it is from the Kadokawa Tsubasa Bunko juvenile fiction label is set for June 30. Lastly, the third version which is set for July 1 will be shipped under the Kadokawa Sneaker Bunko light novel label.
With a 100-minute runtime, the film will be making its premiere in Japan on July 20. Working on the film are the following:

As for the opening theme, “Mirai no Theme” and the yet to be titled theme song of the film, it will be performed by Tatsuro Yamashita.
Set in a small house in an obscure corner of a certain city, the story of the film tells of a small family, particularly, the spoiled four-year-old boy Kun-chan. A new addition has arrived for the family in the form of a little sister for Kun-chan who is less than happy.
Feeling that his new sister is taking away his parent’s love, Kun-chan finds himself experiencing emotional turmoil or the first time. As he undergoes this new experience, someone makes a sudden appearance, and that someone is an older version of Mirai, who has come from the future.

On another note, from May 9 to 19 is the Director’s Fortnight, an independent section held in parallel to the Cannes Film Festival and it is here that the film’s world premiere will be held.
