Hayao Miyazaki is back with his first anime in five years!
The Ghibli Museum’s official website posted an announcement on Tuesday that Miyazaki’s CG short Boro the Caterpillar will premiere in the museum on March 21. His last anime work that he has done was The Wind Rises that was premiered in 2013.
Miyazaki is responsible for its concept, direction, and script. It will have total runtime of 14 minutes and 20 seconds. The short is about Boro, a recently hatched caterpillar who wakes up and takes his first steps into the world filled with friends as well as enemies.
Aside from this anime short, Miyazaki is also working on his upcoming anime feature film Kimi-tachi wa Dō Ikiru ka (How Do You Live?) which from based from the same name as Genzaburo Yoshino’s 1937 masterpiece. It is an “action-adventure fantasy” film and said that the movie will take three to four years to complete.
