While the “Yowamushi Pedal Glory Line” sets itself for January 2018, an announcement has been made that a voice drama series will be launched for the franchise. Already, plans have been confirmed for the series, from episodes to characters.
The series will be featuring different characters from the “Yowamushi Pedal” series interacting with one another and will be consisting of six episodes. Making their appearance first in the series are characters Yasutomo Arakita and Yukinari Kuroda. They are voice by Hiroyuki Yoshino, who also played a role in sports series, “Haikyuu” as Hajime Iwaizumi, and Kenji Nojima, the voice of Seung Gil Lee in skating series “Yuri!!! On Ice” respectively.
The voice drama will be taking focus on the Hakone group in the beginning and is set to be released in mid November. Any other information on the wok can be found on the official website of the franchise.
It was in the 12th issue of Akita Shoten’s Weekly Shōnen Champion in 2008 that the series written and illustrated by Wataru Watanabe had its start. As of June 2017 the series has released a total of 51 volumes. The anime adaptation of the series came out in October 2013 and in the course of its run, not only reached 4 seasons as of now but had also released film, drama, OVA and even game adaptations.
The beginning of the series tells the story of otaku high schooler Sakamichi Onoda. Upon entering into high school, all he wants is to create a club to meet friends and share his interest with. Outside of trying to gather members for the disbanded club he rides everywhere on what is called his “mommy bike.” While he cycles to school on its steep hill path to school, he catches the attention of serious cyclist Shunsuke Imaizumi. Upon getting challenged by him, Sakamichi soon finds himself drawn into the world of cycling.
On the characters that will be making the first appearance in the voice drama, both are from Hakone Academy, an academy that was previously known to hold an unbeatable cycling team described to be filled with Aces. Arakita was a third year of the school and is described as the skilled, albeit reckless, all-rounder cycler of the team. Yukinari Kuroda on the other hand, is a third-year climber who lost to Manami during his second year
