A cameo appearance takes place in the upcoming film “Yo-kai Watch Shadowside: Oni-ō no Fukkatsu” a.k.a “Yo-kai Watch Shadowside: The Return of the Oni King.” Making their appearance is not a character of the series but rather characters of “GeGeGe no Kitarō” a.k.a. “Kitarō of the Graveyard.”
Primarily it will be Kitaro who will be making the cameo as a legendary figure amongst youkai. He appears as Jibanyan seeks his help in Kitaro’s forest residence. He will not be alone however as his Youkai companions will be with him as well.
Nozawa Masako, who acted as the voice of Kitaro in the very first anime adaptation, will once again be acting as the yokai boy in the film. She stated that is excited to know on the reactions on the appearance of the characters and imagines that many may enjoy it.
“Yo-kai Watch Shadowside: The Return of the Oni King” is set to be released this year on December 16. It is the 4th film of the “Youkai Watch” series and takes on an aftermath story, specifically 30 years after the series.
The story tells of a young boy who once wielded a watch able to control Youkai but as the years passed and the older he had gotten the lesser he was able to see them. Thus the watch was hidden away when he could no longer see youkai and an age of peace was passed.
However, this peace does not last long as years passed and as a comet falls to the earth and with it is a terrible Youkai virus named Onimaro. As the virus spreads so does terror and thus the need for the Youkai watch has arisen once more.
“GeGeGe no Kitarō” is a supernatural series created in 1960 by Shigeru Mizuki. It is one of the biggest series to popularize Youkai and has one manga series adapted anime, live action and video games. The story tells of a Youkai boy named Kitaro and his adventures with other ghouls and strange creatures of Japanese mythology as he seeks to unite the worlds of humans and Youkai
