So new anime titles are coming up in the next few months—have you ever had that thought that maybe the numbers of these new and upcoming series are a bit too overwhelming for you as a casual anime fan? Have you ever had those thoughts that you just want to sit back, relax, and just enjoy some good old anime movies on a slow afternoon?
Well, we’ve got you covered! In this feature, we will be giving you some anime movies that are worth watching on your typical afternoons at home. These titles are not so mainstream so you might have not heard about them yet. If that’s the case, then these are definitely worth a watch.
Cardcaptor Sakura Movie 2- The Sealed Card
If you are into mahou shoujo or magical girl shows, Cardcaptor Sakura Movie 2- The Sealed Card is one of our top anime movie recommendations. Not only is this the second movie under the popular Cardcaptor Sakura franchise, it is also considered as the conclusion to the anime adaptation. The story is set after Li Syaoran left Tomoeda to return to Hong Kong and confessed to Sakura Kinomoto. As Sakura thought that everything is now at peace in the town of Tomoeda, a new Clow Card called The Void (also called The Nothing) is slowly stealing the Sakura Cards and using it to cause trouble. Will Sakura ever seal this card and finally be able to tell her feelings to Syaoran?
When Marnie Was There
In case people are not aware, this is a Studio Ghibli film! Based on the novel of the same name, the movie is centered on a lonely introverted girl named Ana who was sent to the countryside for a small vacation away from the busy city life. When she thought her trip wouldn’t be something to look forward to, everything changed when she saw a beautiful house on the side of a lake and a beautiful girl named Marnie.
Osamu Tezuka’s Metropolis
Based on the manga created by anime and manga legend Osamu Tezuka, Metropolis is a science-fiction anime film produced in 2001. The movie is directed by Ritaro and written by Katsuhiro Otomo— two popular names in the anime industry.
The city of Metropolis is known to be a city of opportunities and progress. Behind all this is a city where there’s huge discrimination between human beings and robots. When a rich man named Duke Red created the tallest building in the city called the Ziggurat, he also funded another project which was considered uncommon to the eyes of many: an advanced robot with an appearance of a human girl.
These are just three of our many recommendations. More recommendations to come soon at Ani.Me!
