It was announced on Friday that the stage production, anime, and game company Marvelous will be establishing a subsidiary company which will be focused on the production and promotion of the Senran Kagura game franchise. The company will have a name of Honey∞Parade Games and is will be officially launched on May 9. Aside from focusing on the mentioned game series, Marvelous also aims to create a “next generation” IP. The new company will be fully funded by Mavelous with a capital stock of $92,000USD (10 million yen).
Kenichiro Takaki, series producer of Senran Kagura established Honey∞Parade Games studio within Marvelous company. With this transition to making it a subsidiary, Takaki will be the new company’s representative director.
The Senran Kagura series of games began in September 2011 with their first original game released for the Nintendo 3DS. Its immense popularity has paved for an anime adaptation which premiered in Japan in 2013. Blu-ray and DVD discs were later released in 2014. Funimation streamed the series on its website the same time as it aired in Japan.
New Games Released for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch
For those who are looking for another game for their PlayStation 4, the Senran Kagura franchise got you covered! Senran Kagura Peach Beach Splash was released in Japan on March 6 and the game will also be released for Europe and North America courtesy of XSEED Games. To add the hype, it was recently confirmed that a new Senran Kagura game is also slated to be released for the Nintendo Switch.
About the Game
For the benefit of those who are not aware of this franchise yet, the Senran Kagura game franchise revolves around female ninjas— cute and hard-to-ignore female ninjas. The game series became so popular that branched out into an anime adaptation as well as several official manga adaptations. Doujins and fanart related to the franchise are also everywhere online.
The first games that were released in the franchise were titled Senran Kagura: Shōjo-tachi no Shinei and Senran Kagura Burst. First former is a side scrolling game with a variety of characters to choose from. The latter now contains an extra story line along with the original game concept. This followed the following titles Senran Kagura Shinovi Versus, Senran Kagura 2: Deep Crimson, Senran Kagura: New Wave, Senran Kagura Bon Appétit!, Senran Kagura: Estival Versus, and Senran Kagura: Peach Beach Splash.
