Only four more days till its premier and the official website of the upcoming historical anime “Onihei” has streamed a commercial on Thursday. Based on the manga “Onihei Crime Reports in Edo” a.k.a Onihei Hankachō Shōtarō Ikenami the story centres on the protagonist Heizō Hasegawa’s work as a figure of justice during Japan’s Edo Period (1603-1868).
The anime will be running a total of 13 episodes with the premier set to be on January 9 late at night meaning it will in all technicality be on January 10 at at 2:05 a.m. on TV Tokyo, TV Aichi, and TV Hokkaido. Additional stations to air the show include TV Q Kyūshū, TV Setouchi, TV Osaka, and the Jidaigeki Specialty Channel along with Amazon Prime Video to exclusively stream the videos as the promotion video indicates.
In related news it has been reported that a separate 40 – minute OVA (original video animation) which has been in production prior to the upcoming series will be released on February 22. Entitled “Onhei ~Sono Otoko, Hasegawa Heizō~” a.k.a “Onihei: This Man, Heizō Hasegawa” it follows Heizō Hasegawa’s journey to becoming a police operative.
