Kunihiko Ikuhara’s magnum opus Revolutionary Girl Utena (Shoujo Kakumei Utena) has just celebrated its 20th anniversary last year, marking the occasion with a musical entitled La fillette révolutionaire Utena ~Shiroki Bara no Tsubomi~ (A White Rosebud).

It’s only less than a year until the much-awaited 2020 Olympics, which will be held in Tokyo. As such, preparations are in full swing for the biggest sports event in the world. In past years, common promotions for the Games include the launching of official mascots, theme songs, and the like.

It was announced last March that Japanese female vocal unit Kalafina is disbanding due to the group’s prolonged inactivity. A report on the Weekly Bunshun Digital, however, refutes this and claims that the group’s disbandment was due to management issues brought about by the whims of the group’s agency.

Anime Expo 2019 is less than two months away, and the convention is starting to roll out the big guns for the event. Just today, Viz Media has announced that renowned manga author Bisco Hatori will grace the event as a Guest of Honor.

It was announced on Tuesday by Sentai Filmworks they will be screening the 2nd Made in Abyss compilation film titled Made in Abyss: Wandering Twilight on May 27 in the United States. The company also confirmed that that bonus features like interviews and behind-the-scenes content will be included in the screening.

Are you ready of the return of this popular video game franchise. A new trailer was released and uploaded on Tuesday by SNK for the new Samurai Shodown (Samurai Spirits) video game. Aside from this trailer, they have also released another character trailer featuring Genjuro.

Heads up Toonami viewers. Adult Swim’s resident anime block just announced this Monday that the block will air 30 minutes earlier than usual starting on May 25. This is to make way for the premiere of Attack on Titan Season 3 Part 2.

Last November 2018, Viz Media announced that they have acquired the rights to release Sailor Moon: Sailor Stars in home video. Sailor Stars, the fifth and final season of the classic magical girl anime, has never been released in home video in North America; this will be the first time that the season will be getting an official home video release in the US.

A new trailer was just released for the second season of the live-action adaptation of Hikaru Nakamura’s manga Saint Young Men. Definitely not for those sensitive to religious matters, as we get to see Jesus and Buddha try maid cosplay and even blurt out some bleeped-out cuss words.

We are currently at episode 6 of the long-anticipated Fruits Basket remake and while we don’t know how many episodes the first season will have (yes folks, there are more seasons to come.), there is one sure thing about this season: the arrival of DVD/Blu-ray volumes.
