Gaming company Square Enix has announced this Saturday the launch of an official smartphone game for the Irregular at Magic High School franchise. The smartphone game is given the official title The irregular at magic high school Reloaded Memory and was launched by way of a new website that opened last weekend.

Square Enix has also revealed a commercial video for the game, which previews the game’s theme song Sanzen Reloaded Sanzen Reloaded by Saori Hayami and Yoko Hikasa, voice actresses of Miyuki Shiba and Angelina Kudou Shields, respectively. Check out the video here!

The game, described as a “magic battle RPG” is set to launch for iOS and Android phones. It will also be free-to-play with purchasable items. The game will also feature an all-original story supervised by the series’ author Tsutomu Satou.

The series’ second season is set for an October 4 premiere. The series was originally set for a July premiere, but was unfortunately delayed due the COVID-19 pandemic. The new season is set to adapt the Visitor arc (Raihousha-hen) or volumes 9-11 of the light novel series.

Risako Yoshida, who directed the franchise’s movie The Girl Who Summons the Stars, is set to direct the second season. Character design for the second season is credited to Kana Ishida, with Taku Iwasaka returning to compose the series’ music. The second season will be produced by 8-bit, who also produced the movie. The first season was produced by Madhouse.

Main cast members Yuichi Nakamura (Tatsuya Shiba), Saori Hayami (Miyuki Shiba), and Yoko Hikasa (Angelina Kudou Shields) are set to return to the series.

Anime News Network describes the series’ story as such:

“In a world where magic is not a fairy tale but has existed for one hundred years siblings Tatsuya and Miyuki Shiba prepare to begin their studies at the elite Private Magic University Affiliated High School (Magic High School for short). Entering on different levels of the academic spectrum the two turn the once peaceful campus into a chaotic one.”

Irregular at Magic High School is a light novel series written by Tsutomu Satou and was published online from October 2008 to March 2011. A manga adaptation drawn by Majiko! was launched in December 2015 and ended on June 2018. In April 2014, Madhouse premiered a 26-episode TV anime adaptation of the series directed by Manabu Ono. A film adaptation entitled Irregular at Magic High School The Movie: The Girl Who Summons the Stars premiered in Japan last June 2017.
