Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out may have aired its last episode on Friday, but don’t worry, we’ll get to see more of her (and her cute fangs) as the series has been confirmed for a second season! The announcement was made in the series’ last episode. Check out the announcement video here!
Series author Take also released a special illustration to celebrate the announcement:
The series premiered in Japan last July 10.
The main cast are:
· Naomi Ozora (Satanichia McDowell Kurumizawa in Gabriel DropOut) as Hana Uzaki
· Kenji Akabane (Tetsuo in Sword Art Online) as Shinichi Sakurai
· Ayana Taketatsu (Nino Nakano in Quintessential Quintuplets) as Ami Asai
· Tomoya Takagi as Itsuhito Sakaki
Series author Take has previously expressed their thoughts and excitement for the upcoming anime adaptation of their manga, saying that “it was the hardest thing to keep this announcement a secret”. They also expressed hope that audiences “could look forward to seeing Uzaki moving around”.
The series was directed by Kazuya Miura (Kemono Michi: Rise Up), with Takashi Aoshima (Yuruyuri – Happy Go Lily, Himouto! Umaru-chan) overseeing the scripts. Character design was handled by Manabu Kurihara (Kemono Michi: Rise Up). Kadokawa’s subsidiary studio ENGI produced the series.
Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out! is written and illustrated by Take. The manga was first released in online platform Niconico on December 2017 under the Dra Dra Sharp brand. The series is a huge hit in Japan, especially for an online manga—compiled volumes of Uzaki-chan by Kadokawa have reached 500,000 sales.
Seven Seas holds the English license to the series, and they describe the story as thus:
“Sakurai Shinichi’s one wish is for a little peace and quiet. But Uzaki Hana–his boisterous, well-endowed underclassman–has other plans. All she wants is to hang out and poke fun at him. With the help of her chipper charm and peppy persistence, this might just be the start of a beautiful relationship!”
