Get ready to be hyped for the upcoming Demon Slayer movie, as a new full trailer for Kimetsu no Yaiba— The Movie: Mugen Train (Kimetsu no Yaiba: Mugen Ressha-hen) has been released this Sunday! Not only does it preview exciting scenes from the movie, it also previews the film’s theme song! Check out Aniplex’s English-subbed trailer here!

The new theme song is entitled Homura (“Flame”) and is sung by popular anisong singer LiSA, who also performed the TV series’ mega-hit opening theme song Gurenge. Just recently, Gurenge hit 1 million downloads in Japan, making LiSA the first female Japanese artist to achieve this feat.

Lyrics to Homura were written by both LiSA and legendary anime music composer, Yuki Kajiura, who is known for composing the beautiful soundtracks of anime series such as Puella Magi Madoka Magica and Fate/Zero. Kajiura also composed music for Demon Slayer’s TV anime series.

The TV series’ cast and staff will be returning to the movie. Haruo Sotozaki (Tales of Zestiria the X) will be directing the film, while Akira Matsushima (Maria Watches Over Us) will still be in charge of character design. The film will still be animated and produced by studio ufotable.

Main cast Natsuki Hanae, Akari Kito, Hiro Shimono, Yoshitsugu Matsuoka, and Satoshi Hino will still be voicing their characters (best boi) Tanjiro, (best imouto) Nezuko, (french fries-haired) Zenitsu, Inosuke, and Rengoku, respectively.

The film is set for an October 16 release in Japan. Aniplex announced that the film will be released in US and Canada in 2021. They also revealed the poster art for the film’s North American release:

The manga’s story is described by Anime News Network as such:

“Since ancient times, rumors have abounded of man-eating demons lurking in the woods. Because of this, the local townsfolk never venture outside at night. Legend has it that a demon slayer also roams the night, hunting down these bloodthirsty demons. For young Tanjiro, these rumors will soon to become his harsh reality. Ever since the death of his father, Tanjiro has taken it upon himself to support his family. Although their lives may be hardened by tragedy, they’ve found happiness. But that ephemeral warmth is shattered one day when Tanjiro finds his family slaughtered and the lone survivor, his sister Nezuko, turned into a demon. To his surprise, however, Nezuko still shows signs of human emotion and thought. Thus begins Tanjiro’s request to fight demons and turn his sister human again.”

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is a shonen manga series written by Koyoharu Gotoge. It was first published in February 2016 in Weekly Shonen Jump and ended last May. The manga’s English license is currently held by Viz Media.
