‘Shaman King’ is Getting a New Anime in April 2021

Old and new anime fans are going to be thrilled with this awesome news! The official website of the popular Shaman King manga announced on Friday that the manga will be having a new anime adaptation slated to be released on April 2021.

What’s cooler is that this upcoming anime will be adapting the complete 35 volumes of the series’ new complete edition. Kodansha will be releasing the print volumes on June 17. Aside from this news, Full Anime TV and Bonbon TV services will be streaming the first Shaman King anime in Japan.

The manga was created by Hiroyuki Takei in 1998 and was released in the Weekly Shonen Jump. The series ended in 2004, but the “true ending” was revealed in 2009.

From the period of 2011 to 2014,Takei created a series of Shaman King shorts called Shaman King 0 and a sequel series titled Shaman King Flowers. A new arc of the manga was released in May 2018 called Shaman King The Super Star published on Shonen Magazine Edge. In December, it was announced that the manga was reaching its climax. Then in April, it was announced in the April Issue of Shonen Magazine Edge that series will return on April 17.

VIZ Media had published the 32 volumes of the original manga series. As of this writing, they no longer hold the license as it was already taken over by Kodansha.

The original anime series was first aired in Japan from 2001 to 2002.
