Shueisha announced this Tuesday that science-fiction harem manga series World’s End will be getting a TV anime series set for a 2021 release. The manga’s author, Kotaro Shono, posted a special illustration to celebrate this announcement:
The manga series is celebrating its 4th anniversary this year, with the manga’s 82nd chapter released last Sunday teasing “important news”—which turned out to be this announcement. The series’ 82nd chapter also marked the start of the series’ “climax”. The series’ 11th volume was also released last Sunday.
The English license release for World’s End is currently held by Seven Seas’ Ghost Ship Imprint. The publisher describes the manga’s story as such:
“The Man-Killer Virus: a lethal disease that has eradicated 99.9% of the world’s male population. Mizuhara Reito has been in cryogenic sleep for the past five years, leaving behind Tachibana Erisa, the girl of his dreams. When Reito awakens from the deep freeze, he emerges into a sex-crazed new world where he himself is the planet’s most precious resource. Reito and four other male studs are given lives of luxury and one simple mission: repopulate the world by impregnating as many women as possible! All Reito wants, however, is to find his beloved Erisa who went missing three years ago. Can Reito resist temptation and find his one true love?”
World’s End was launched by author Kotaro Shono last May 2016 in Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ website and app. The series has since inspired a spin-off entitled World’s End Harem: Fantasia, written by LINK and SAVAN, which has been running in Shueisha’s Ultra Jump magazine as well as on the Shonen Jump+ website and Young Jump! app since 2018.
Fantasia, in turn, has inspired a spin-off entitled Shuumatsu no Harem: Fantasia Gakuen (World’s End Harem: Fantasia Academy), written by Okada Andou and set to be released on May 19.
