The official website for Bushiroad’s upcoming TV anime Argonavis from BanG Dream! Animation has just released a 100-second OP movie. The OP movie features the song “Hoshi ga Hajimaru” (The Stars Begin), one of two opening themes songs for the series. The song is performed by titular band Argonavis. Check out the OP movie here!
Hoshi ga Hajimaru is set to be released on April 29 as the band’s third single.
The other opening theme song, “SCATTER”, will be performed by GYROAXIA, one of the bands in the franchise.
Hiroshi Nishikiori (Azumanga Daioh, A Certain Magical Index) is directing the series. Hikaru Miyoshi (Kanshikan Tsunemori Akane) is the character designer for both the game and anime. Writing the scripts for both the game and the anime will be Nobuhiro Mori. The series will be animated by Sanzigen, the same studio that handled seasons two and three of BanG Dream! (the female version).
The anime series is set for an April 10 premiere.
Argonavis is composed of voice actors Shūta Morishima (keyboard), Seiji Maeda (bass), Daisuke Hyuga (guitar), Shōhei Hashimoto (drums), and Masahiro Ito (vocals). Their first single “Goal Line” was released on February 20. The band held their first live last May 17, 2019 at the Maihama Ampitheater in Maihama, Chiba.
BanG Dream! is a multimedia franchise formed by Bushiroad in January 2015. The franchise is composed of releases in the form of manga, music CDs, live concerts, card games, a smartphone game named BanG Dream! Girls’ Band Party! developed by Craft Egg, and a TV anime series. The anime series has ran for two seasons so far; the first aired from January to April 2017, while the second ran from January to March 2019. A third season aired last January 2020.
Despite coming from the same franchise, Bushiroad president Takaaki Kidani has stated that the male side of BanG Dream! has a different setting from the franchise’s female bands (Poppin’ Party, Roselia, Afterglow, Hello Happy World!, Pastel* Palettes, Glitter*Green, RAISE A SUILEN) and is an altogether separate project.
