Sailor Moon Restaurant Opens In Tokyo This August, Stage Shows to be Performed Daily

Posted in: Anime News

We all know that timeless franchise Sailor Moon always does collaborations with cafés and restaurants in Tokyo, which feature really cute Sailor Moon-inspired food, décor, and exclusive merchandise. The sad thing with these collaborations, however, is that they only run for a limited time, i.e., it doesn’t give me enough time to actually save up for a trip to Japan!

If you’re one of those who are forever frustrated with limited-time collaborations (like me), well I have good news for you! The beloved magical girl anime is FINALLY opening a permanent restaurant in Tokyo (about time, I say)! Yes, PERMANENT! Named Shining Moon Tokyo, the restaurant will open in Azabu-Juban, Tokyo on August 15. Does the location sound familiar to you? Well, hardcore fans will be sure to recognize the place, as it is the neighborhood where Usagi herself lived in the anime/manga. It is also where series author Naoko Takeuchi lived for a significant part of her life.

Once the restaurant opens, fans will get to enjoy Sailor Moon-themed food, like the Pretty Guardian Lunch Box and Moon Prism Burger, pictured below.

Or you can try the Sailor Planets Temari Sushi, Mako-chan’s Soumen Cold Noodles, or Tsukino Family’s Usagi Curry:

They will also serve iced drinks representing each Sailor Senshi’s image color, like below:

Besides their Sailor Moon-inspired menu, Shining Moon Tokyo will also be holding a live Sailor Moon stage show every evening! There will be three performances every night, with two actresses alternating for the role of Sailor Moon: Reona Samejima and Shina Tanaka. Akiko Kodama, who wrote the script for the Sailor Moon The Super Live, will be directing and writing the script for the play that will be performed in the restaurant.

Shining Moon Tokyo restaurant is set to open on August 15, with reservations for seats opening to the public on July 21. For those planning to go, do note that walk-ins are not allowed—you’ll have to reserve seats for either lunch or dinner slots, with the tickets costing 3500 yen for the former and 7500-8500 yen for the latter. Reservations can be made here.
