Atlus keeps on delivering fresh teasers for the newest addition to their Persona 5 game, which is Persona 5 The Royal. A recent tweet from the game’s official Twitter account features the new female character, Kasumi Yoshizawa, interacting with the male protagonist. Check out the clip below:
【 #P5R 10/31発売!】ジョーカーの転入と同じ年の春に秀尽学園へ入学した新入生、芳澤かすみ(CV.雨宮天)。新体操で優秀な成績を収めていて、学園からも期待されているらしい。あの体裁き…ただものじゃなさそうだぜ! #ペルソナ5 https://t.co/x3vyNLnFwS pic.twitter.com/dXH5KXtrxb

In the clip, we see Kasumi introducing herself to the male protagonist. Afterwards, she performs some sort of graceful jump—which impresses Morgana—to rescue some balloons that escaped the hands of a child. The scene unabashedly seems to be establishing that Kasumi is a good person, but her intentions towards the Phantom Thieves remain unclear. She is described in the game’s official website as such:
”A new girl who’s just transferred into Shujin Academy the same spring the protagonist transferred there. Since the age of junior high, she’s got excellent score as an acrobatic contestant, and she is expecting the future days at Shujin Academy. She loves the protagonist, but she seems to dislike the stuff about the Phantom Thieves… ? Foe, or ally — Please look forward to more upcoming reports.”
The game will be adding in the Phantom Thieves’ third semester in Shujin Academy. Besides Kasumi, a new character named Takuto Maruki (voiced by Satoshi Hino) was also added. He is a part-time school counselor at Shujin who will be one of the male protagonist’s Confidants. His arcana is Le Consultant.
Previously-announced new features to the game include a new place to visit called Kichijoji, a new gaming bar where you can play darts or billiards, new eateries to spend time in (and increase one’s attributes, most likely), and an aquarium as a new date spot. The video also shows us a new feature where the protagonist’s friends can send him selfies via the in-game messaging app.
Persona 5 The Royal is set for an October 31, 2019 release in Japan. Fans outside of Japan will have to wait longer, however, as Atlus has announced that the game will be released to the west & other territories sometime in 2020.
