Anime studio Lerche has just revealed the first teaser trailer for its upcoming BL (boys’ love) anime Given. The 15-second PV shows one of the lead characters, Mafuyu Sato (VA. Shougo Yano) in the staircase which is an all-too familiar place for readers of the manga. Check out the trailer below:
In the trailer Mafuyu muses out loud, saying: “I’ve seen this dream a lot of times. Even though I won’t see you again… even though these words will not reach you.”
Mafuyu’s teaser PV is just the first of four teasers called ”talk to_PV”. studio Lerche has announced that they will be revealing one new teaser every week for four weeks, which means that the remaining three trailers will be focusing on Mafuyu’s bandmates Ritsuka Uenoyama, Haruki Nakayama, and Akihiko Kaji.
To add to the feels, the title card of the anime also includes the following words: Can’t say goodbye, I’m still drifting with your echoes. Damn.

• Mafuyu Sato (guitarist & vocalist)– VA. Shougo Yano (Shingo Sawatari from Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc V)
• Ritsuka Uenoyama (guitarist) – VA. Yuma Uchida (Ash Lynx from Banana Fish)
• Haruki Nakayama (bassist) – VA. Masatomo Nakazawa (Clear from DRAMAtical Murder)
• Akihiko Kaji (drummer) – VA. Takuya Eguchi (Shinji Koganei from Kuroko no Basket)
The story centers on Ritsuka, a once-avid guitarist who has lost interest in the instrument. He then meets Mafuyu, who is holding on to a broken guitar. Perplexed by this, Ritsuka offers to fix his guitar and teaches him to play it as well. When he hears Mafuyu singing, however, Ritsuka starts to feel something different.
The upcoming BL anime will be animated by studio Lerche (Scum’s Wish, Konohana Kitan), with Hikaru Yamaguchi helming the show as its director. Yuniko Ayana (both seasons of BanG Dream!) will be in charge of the series composition and scripts. Given is slated for a July release.
