Viz Media Announces English Dub Cast for Sailor Moon: Sailor Stars Blu-ray Release

Posted in: Anime News

Last November 2018, Viz Media announced that they have acquired the rights to release Sailor Moon: Sailor Stars in home video. Sailor Stars, the fifth and final season of the classic magical girl anime, has never been released in home video in North America; this will be the first time that the season will be getting an official home video release in the US. Understandably, this news got international Moonies excited!

Six months after this announcement, Viz released an update on the upcoming home video release of Sailor Stars: just this Monday, they unveiled the official English dub cast for the Blu-ray release! Check out the confirmed cast below:

• Chibi-chibi – Stephanie Sheh (Tsukino Usagi/Sailor Moon in Sailor Moon Crystal)
• Sailor Star Fighter – Melissa Hutchinson (Clementine in The Walking Dead)
• Sailor Star Maker – Erika Harlacher (Yumeko Jabami in Kakegurui)
• Sailor Star Healer – Sarah Williams (Miki Sayaka inPuella Magi Madoka Magica)
• Sailor Galaxia – Carrie Keranen (Mami Tomoe inPuella Magi Madoka Magica)

Like the previous Viz Media releases of Sailor Moon DVDs/Blu-rays, Sailor Stars will have a limited edition Blu-ray Disc/DVD combo pack, a standard Blu-ray Disc/DVD combo pack, and a standard DVD release. The release will be divided into two parts, with the first Blu-ray installment to be released this spring.

Sailor Moon: Sailor Stars is composed of 34 episodes and is divided into two arcs: the first arc, which is an anime original and not in the manga release, follows Usagi and her fellow Sailor Senshi battling Queen Nehelenia once more. The second arc, which comprises the majority of the fifth season, introduces the Sailor Starlights, who are presented in the anime as males who transform into females when they take on their Sailor forms (in the manga, they are females in both their human and Sailor forms—this change done in the anime is still a point of contention to most fans up to this day). Led by the Princess Kakyuu, they team up with Usagi and the other Sailor Senshi to battle the powerful Sailor Galaxia.
