Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice Sells 2 Million Copies In Just 10 Days

Activision has announced that FromSoftware’s newest action-adventure game Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice has officially sold 2 million copies in just 10 days after its release. The amazing sales numbers of Sekiro came from sales on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One and also includes both the physical and digital sales of the game on all these platforms.

The game has quickly gained a reputation among gamers for its very difficult gameplay, even prompting some game reviews to (jokingly) suggest to FromSoftware that an easy mode be provided for the game. This seems highly unlikely though, as Sekiro appears to be following the tradition of highly-successful FromSoftware games that are also known for their extreme difficulty, such as Bloodborne, Demon’s Souls, and Dark Souls.

The game’s publisher Activision, through its Vice President of Product Management and Marketing Michelle Fonseca has expressed gratitude to the fans who have made Sekiro successful: “The fans have made Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice one of the most incredible game launches of 2019 thus far. The game has performed well on all platforms including PC and we’re excited by the continued support from gamers and critics alike.”

The game is described in Activision’s website as such:

Directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki, and published by Activision, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is a third-person, action-adventure game with RPG elements. The single-player game puts players in the protagonist role of a hard-hearted warrior whose mission is to rescue his master, a young lord who is the descendant of an ancient bloodline, and exact revenge on his arch nemesis. Set in the re-imagined world of late 1500s Sengoku Japan; a brutal, bloody period of constant life-and-death conflict, in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice you are the “one-armed wolf,” a disgraced and disfigured warrior rescued from the brink of death.

In the game, players come face-to-face with larger than life foes; unleash an arsenal of deadly prosthetic tools and powerful ninja abilities to blend stealth, vertical traversal, and visceral head-to-head combat in a bloody confrontation.

Take revenge. Restore your honor. Kill Ingeniously.
